I love words and great storytelling, which explains why I'm a writer by trade and passion. You name it—authoring non-fiction books, ghostwriting memoirs, penning scripts—I write them all! I also love watching classic movies, retro TV, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble on my iPad. See—more words!
I cut my teeth in broadcast promotions and publicity at KTTV and the Fox TV network in Los Angeles. In a short time, I transitioned to production and development, which led me to helm two production companies (SI Communications and my Park Hill Entertainment), run the TV division of NATPE (The National Association of Television Program Executives), and help to launch and run The Africa Channel. Then, after spending decades producing and writing for film and TV—over one hundred titles that earned me an Emmy Award and two NAACP Image Award nominations—I transitioned to literary ghostwriting, where I started writing primarily memoirs and nonfiction for fabulous authors who don't have the time to complete their books.
I'm now authoring my own books—the latest is AfroCentric Style: A Celebration of Blackness & Identity in Pop Culture, published by HarperCollins Amistad. It's a collectible gift book examining how pop culture serves as a conduit to better understand and appreciate Black culture and identity. Visit afrocentricstyle.net for more information and to pre-order copies.
Also in the works is my first novel, tentatively titled Friends & Lovers in the Land—a guaranteed page-turner! In the production realm, I'm writing and co-developing a limited TV series with partners James Pickens, Jr. & Justin Chambers of Grey's Anatomy fame.
All three projects are going to be soooo good. Stay tuned!
